Location and Directions

Leavenworth is located 10 miles north of Interstate 70 on Kansas Highway 7/US Highway 73. If you need more specific directions, they can be easily obtained from Google.
Leavenworth is also only about 20 miles from the Kansas City International Airport. There is no scheduled bus or train transportation between the airport and Leavenworth. However, transportation can be arranged through the airport auto rental agencies, or through a private limousine service such as Rick's Airport Express at 1-800-331-6796 or Leavenworth Airport Shuttle at 1-800-444-8239.

Driving instructions from Kansas Int'l Airport (MCI) to the Sommer House:

Depart airport and go to I-29, going North (toward St Joseph). After about 5 miles, you'll come to Platte City. Exit I-29 at Platte City (Highway 92 exit.) Take Highway 92 to Leavenworth (10 miles.) You'll know when you're in Leavenworth, because you have to go over the Missouri River on a big bridge. Continue straight ahead (thru 2 traffic lights.) After about 3/4 mile, you'll see a car wash on the left side. Turn left on the first street after the carwash (this is North 13th Street.) Continue down North 13th for 3 blocks. Take a left on Dakota (There is a big white paint spotch on the street where you turn.) We did not do this, but it helps. The Sommer House will be the second house on the left. We'll be waiting there for you, and are looking forward to you visit.
